"The never ending
renewal of life"

Each Rhombus is giving birth to a rhombus,
as it is being born itself.

GENESIS is fabricated by using the same Borromean Ring principle that INTUITION and CREATION are formed on, but this time I have used three rhombuses. The Rhombus is thought to be the Celtic fertilty symbol.

The photograph below is of one of the marvellous Celtic Petroglyth carvings at the New Grange tumulus near Dublin, Ireland, thought to be 5000 years old, showing the rhombuses symbol of fertility I have used in GENESIS.

STONEHENGE
This beaten gold breast plate, 5 inches
square, (15cm), was found amongst the
bones of a tall robust man in the most
important burial mound at Stonehenge,
England. Was he the architect of the
greatest of the Stone Age Monuments?

I think this is my favourite of the three sculptures using the Rings, because it has the most harmonious concept of Gestalt. The Collins Dictionary defines gestalt as follows:-`a perceptual pattern or structure possessing qualities as a whole that cannot be described merely as a sum of its parts'. The planes of GENESIS cross at right angles, and the polished surfaces act as mirrors, creating false images, which try to trick the mind.

I am delighted that it is in the centre of the quadrangle of the main buildings of the University of Wales, Bangor, and with CREATION and INTUITION, is at the front of the Isaac Newton Institute, Cambridge. Here is a picture from the unveiling on October 4, 1997.
