"Universal prologue to creation"

"Following the INNOCENCE and singularity of childhood comes the pairing of adolescence. Each section of COURTSHIP DANCE is cut from an Ovoid, the symbol of Life. I cast two pieces and mounted them together so that the shapes are reaching out to each other, yearning to touch, and to become one.

This dance image comes from a sight I saw many years ago in the bush of northern Australia when I was a cattle drover on the Fitzroy River stock route. I used to see pairs of giant Brolgas, 5 foot high, leap in the air, twisting together, bills clacking as they sparred, in a courtship dance. It is a wonderful sight to watch."
